Wayward Youth

The sunlight calls my name.
Its power begging to be captured as it speaks its last goodbyes.

The school bells of my youth toll once again,
& I find myself unable to return to those childhood days.

The once unknown streets have become our home,
& the people within it our family.

The wind through my hair,
a stranger’s smile…
Memories to keep me moving throughout this land.

A never-ending search for something more,
a destiny fulfilled through self-pursuit.

I lose myself to a love of life,
& it answers me back with disregard.

Tears will pass,
love will stay,
memories may leave.

These days are numbered,
but they are mine.
No one can take them from me.

Friends,
wanderers,
photographs,
the scars beneath my knees.

The stamps of life have met me well,
& I have let them press against me.

A skin so young,
a soul so old,
energy without bound.

Open to anything,
ready to feel,
not afraid to die.

Something for everyone.
Everything for someone.
